[my life, my blessings, my journey]

year in review ~ 2011

I started this blog with no real expectations and a lot of fear. What I couldn't have known is how much this blog and photography would grow and stretch me; challenge me and confirm so many things in my life. I am more comfortable now in my own skin than I have ever been.

I have learned to endure criticism and have grown a thicker skin. Grown more comfortable in knowing what makes me happy in my images and being okay with that. Whatever it is.

I have met some really talented photographers who have been warm, supportive and encouraging to me this year. Photography is not really about photographs. It's about connections. I have been witness to raw, heartbreaking, beautiful and joyful images this year through my newest friends and I have been immeasurably inspired by them. Thank you to each and every one of you.

Looking ahead to 2012 is exciting. So much possibility and promise. I'm going to do a Project 52 (and really stick to it!) and I'm looking forward to more growth, more creativity and inspiration. I'm excited to see what the new year brings.

A year in review - a few of my most treasured photographs.

December 30, 2011 - Looking ahead to a bright 2012. P52/Week 1
Week One - Resolution

Life doesn't have to be big and fancy and overdone.

It can be ordinary, quiet. And full.

Full and well lived.

Wishing you a full and well lived 2012, friends.

My emotions must be running high lately because this almost had me in tears. I think you said it best - ordinary and full is so much more beautiful. And I think it took me reading others' blogs, and starting my own, to realize that.
You are a master at black and whites! I had a hard time choosing favorties, but I'd have to pick Feb 20th and July 23rd. Lovely.
So glad to have met you on my 2011 journey. What a blessing. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings you, friend. :)
And I can't wait to see your 52 project!
Happy New Year. a.

Such lovely photos, Amanda. And such truth in your words. Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work, and you!, in 2012.

Btw... I had lunch with E yesterday at school and her and Caroline were so cute. Two peas in a pod and do sweet with eachother. Makes this mama happy :)
